Canon MX472 printer can help you to maximize your daily work efficiency with the advantage of wireless connectivity. To use this printer, the first thing you have to do is set up the printer properly. If you are a Canon MX472 printer user, then it is essential to know its setup process.  

How to Setup A Canon MX472 Wireless Printer?

Here we are going to discuss how to do canon mx472 wireless setup easily. 

Before connecting the printer with your wireless network, confirm that you have completed the configuration of the access point and computer. 

The following information is required to connect the printer with the wireless network. 

  • Network Name/Access Point Name: SSID. 
  • Network Key: Pre-shared key, WEP key or WPA/WPA2 passphrase, encryption key. 
  • WPS Access Point/Router. 

Now, you can install the driver and software of your Canon MX472 in two different ways. They are: 

Method 1: Using CD-ROM: 

To use the printer by connecting it with a computer, the requisite software and drivers must to be stored in the hard disk of the computer. To perform the installation process, it’s always better to use the Setup CD-ROM that comes with the printer. 

The installation process may take a minimum of 20 minutes. (it may differ depending on the computer you are using). 

Step 1: First of all, turn the computer On and insert the CD-ROM into the DVD drive of the system. It will open the installation pop-up window by itself. 

But, if the installation process doesn’t start automatically, go to the My Computer or Computer section. Click twice on the CD-ROM icon. Once the CD-ROM contents appear, click twice on the ‘MSETUP4.EXE’ file. 

Step 2: Tap on the Next button from the opening screen. It will open an interactive Setup Guide on the next screen. Mostly, it will include the instructions that you have to perform from the Control Panel of the printer. Afterward, you can proceed with the next step. 

Step 3: Tap on the ‘Wireless Connection’ option from the Connection Method Selection window. Now, turn on the printer and click on the Next button to continue. Afterward, click on the ‘Connect to the network’ button from the ‘2-1 Printer Setup’ screen. 

Next, click on the Setup button from the ‘2-2 Printer Setup’ window and tap on the Next button. Once the ‘2-3 Printer Setup’ window opens, choose the ‘Device settings’ option using the right or left arrow. Click on the OK button and then the Next button to proceed. 

Step 4: Now, choose the ‘LAN Settings’ option from the ‘2-4 Printer Setup’ screen and click on the OK button. Afterward, tap on the Next button to proceed further. 

Once the ‘2-5 Printer Setup’ screen opens, choose the ‘Wireless LAN setup’ option and click on the OK button. Afterward, you will see that the Wi-Fi light starts to flash with blue light. 

Now, the printer will start searching for the WPS access point. Once it detects a WPS access point, a message will appear on the screen and will ask you to press the WPS button. If you are not sure where the WPS button is, you can press the Stop button to proceed further. 

Step 5: Tap on the ‘Other Methods’ button from the ‘3-1 Setup procedure Selection’ screen. Next, tap on the ‘Wireless Setup Using the USB cable’ option from the next window. 

It will open a list of options. Untick the box that you don’t want to install. Or if you prefer, you can also tap on the ‘Clear All’ button to install only the ‘MP Drivers.’ Afterward, tap on the Next button to start the installation process. 

Step 6: If any anti-virus program or firewall is installed on your computer, then a warning message will appear on the screen. Choose the appropriate option to allow access and click on the Next button. 

Step 7: Once the ‘Set Up New Printer’ screen appears, make sure that the USB cable is connected and tap on the Next button. Afterward, connect the computer and printer using a USB cable. 

Now, confirm the SSID or Network Name from the ‘Confirm Connection Access Point’ dialog box and tap on the Yes button. Once the ‘Disconnect Cable’ window opens, detach the USB cable from both the computer and printer and tap on the Next button. 

Step 8: Make sure that the SSID or Network Name appears on the ‘Setup Completion’ screen and tap on the Complete button. Click on the Next button from the next screen. Once you get the ‘Installation completed successfully’ message, tap on the Exit button. 

Method 2: Without Using CD-ROM

If you don’t have the installation CD-ROM, you can download the driver from the official website of Canon. To do this, you can perform the steps mentioned below: 

Step 1: First and foremost, visit the official website of Canon and go to the ‘Driver & Software’ page. Choose the Operating System and OS version from the drop-down list. Afterward, click on the appropriate MP Driver file to download it. 

Read the instructions properly from the next screen and check the box that prompts ‘I Agree – Begin Download.’ Once the downloading process completes, double-click on the downloaded file to start the installation process. 

Step 2: Tap on the Next button from the Welcome screen. Choose your Country and Region on the next screen and click on the Next button. Tap on the Yes button to agree to the License Agreement. 

Afterward, choose the ‘Use the printer with wireless LAN connection’ from the ‘Connection method’ screen and click Next. If it opens the ‘Please Allow All Install Wizard Processes’ screen, click on the Next button. 

As a result, it will start the installation process. Install the software by following the on-screen guidance. 

Step 3:  Now, turn the printer ON and tap on the OK button. Afterward, tap on the Next button from the ‘Set Up New Printer’ screen. Once the ‘Connect Cable’ screen appears, connect the computer and printer using a USB cable. Now, the computer will start to detect the printer. 

Now, confirm the SSID or Network Name from the ‘Confirm Connection Access Point’ pop-up box and click on the Yes button.  

Step 4: Once it opens the ‘Disconnect Cable’ window, disconnect the USB cable from the computer and printer and click Next. 

Afterward, confirm the Network Name or SSID once again from the ‘Setup Completion’ window.
